The September 2026 CPI is scheduled for release on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 08:30 AM Eastern Time, or 12:30 UTC. This is a 21-days-out recheck of the official calendars and exact Kalshi event records, focused on what traders should verify before making a contract decision.
Source snapshot: September 23, 2026. BLS had not announced a schedule change as of this check. Kalshi market counts and statuses below are dated observations, not promises of continued availability.
Primary sources checked: the BLS CPI release calendar, the BLS October 2026 calendar, the KXCPI-26SEP event record, and the KXCPIYOY-26SEP event record. The BLS CPI homepage remains the primary report destination.
The official BLS schedule did not change between the September 10 guide and this September 23 recheck. Both BLS calendar views continue to show Consumer Price Index data for September 2026 at 08:30 AM ET on October 14.
The Kalshi event structure did change:
The increased monthly threshold count does not establish better liquidity, better execution, or a trading advantage. It only shows that the lineup expanded between two dated snapshots. Current availability and prices must come from Kalshi markets directly.
The reference-month table lists September 2026 for release on October 14, 2026, at 08:30 AM. Its adjacent rows show August CPI on September 11, October CPI on November 10, and November CPI on December 10. BLS says this calendar is updated as needed, usually at least one week before scheduled publication.
The October month view independently displays Wednesday, October 14, with “Consumer Price Index, September 2026” at 08:30 AM. A separate Real Earnings release occupies the same time slot. Both pages are maintained by BLS, so their agreement is useful confirmation but not evidence from two independent agencies. The October view was last modified February 18, 2026.
New York will be observing daylight time on October 14, making 08:30 AM ET equal to 12:30 UTC. That offset should not be assumed for releases in other months.
KXCPI-26SEP concerns the monthly percentage change in CPI for September and uses more-than thresholds stated to one decimal place. KXCPIYOY-26SEP concerns the CPI change over the twelve months ending September 2026, also using the one-decimal BLS value. Neither should be confused with core CPI. The earlier release and cutoff guide provides the fuller measure comparison.
This page is a static source recheck, not a live quote or availability feed. Before trading, check each of the following again:
The next scheduled reference month is covered separately in the October 2026 CPI schedule guide. Update links may also appear through the @Kalshi_market channel.
Both exact event records include this contingency: “in case of a data delay caused by a federal government shutdown impacting the reliability of the Source Agency, the market's latest Expiration Date extends to the sooner of the release of the Underlying or six months after the end of the shutdown.”
This language does not predict a shutdown or establish that the October 14 release will be delayed. BLS had not changed the scheduled release as of September 23. Traders should read the current official contract text rather than infer a revised date, fallback calculation, or payout timeline.
Several timestamps also need to be kept separate. The scheduled BLS data release is 08:30 AM ET. The dated exact monthly event snapshot shows an 08:25 AM close, while the YoY snapshot shows an 08:29 AM close. A generic monthly CPI terms PDF reviewed with the earlier packet lists 08:29 AM for last trading and 08:31 AM for expiration, creating an unresolved discrepancy with the exact monthly event record.
This guide does not declare either source universally controlling. Trading close, report publication, contract expiration, determination, and payout are different events. None of the cited materials supports promising a particular settlement or payout time.
No. As of the September 23 source check, both BLS calendar views still listed September CPI for Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 08:30 AM Eastern Time. The calendar can be updated, so traders should recheck both BLS pages before the release rather than treat this dated confirmation as a guarantee.
Yes, but only the monthly threshold lineup changed in the compared snapshots. KXCPI-26SEP increased from 11 to 14 active markets, while KXCPIYOY-26SEP remained at 21. The monthly close stayed at 08:25 AM EDT and the YoY close stayed at 08:29 AM EDT in the September 23 API records.
No. The existence of a funding deadline does not establish that a shutdown will occur, that BLS will delay the report, or that settlement will be delayed. The exact Kalshi events contain a specific shutdown-related extension mechanism. Traders should read the current event rules and official government updates without inventing a replacement release date.
No. BLS lists the report for 08:30 AM ET. The September 23 exact-event snapshot shows the monthly markets closing at 08:25 and the YoY markets closing at 08:29. A generic monthly terms PDF lists 08:29 for last trading, which conflicts with the exact monthly event snapshot. Expiration and payout are separate timestamps as well.
