Range (bracket) market: A Kalshi event split into brackets, like daily high temperature ranges with "or above" and "or below" ends, where one reading lands in one bracket.
In a range, or bracket, market each market covers a band of values instead of a single threshold. Kalshi's weather guide says daily temperature markets are typically ranges: contracts resolve on the day's highest or lowest temperature at the listed station, offered as a set of temperature ranges plus "or above" and "or below" levels. In Kalshi's API a band has the strike type between, with floor_strike and cap_strike as its edges.
Worked example: suppose a city's high is listed in two-degree brackets. Buying Yes on the 72 to 73 bracket at 30¢ pays $1 only if the final reading lands in that bracket; a reading of 74 pays nothing, however close. Because the brackets share one outcome, their Yes prices across the event add up to roughly $1.
What to check: whether the edges are included, the exact station and report (the National Weather Service's final Daily Climate Report for daily highs) and the day boundary. Kalshi notes the report uses local standard time, so during daylight saving time the day runs from 1:00 AM to 12:59 AM the next day.
