Event: A group of related Kalshi markets about one question or occasion, such as all price strikes for one date; each event belongs to a series.
Kalshi's API glossary defines an event as a collection of markets and the basic unit that members interact with on Kalshi. A race, a monthly data release or one day's weather is an event; each candidate, strike or temperature range inside it is a separate market with its own price.
Events sit inside a series, the template for recurring events that follow the same format and rules. In Kalshi's example, the series KXHIGHNY has the event KXHIGHNY-24JAN01, which contains the market KXHIGHNY-24JAN01-T60. The series carries settings such as the fee type and fee multiplier, the event groups the markets for one occurrence, and each market is what you actually buy or sell.
What to check: whether the markets in an event are mutually exclusive (only one can resolve Yes, like candidates for one office) or directional ("above 3.00" and "above 3.10" can both resolve Yes). Kalshi's collateral return rules cover both kinds with different math, and the difference changes how prices across the event add up.
