Maker fee: A fee Kalshi charges on resting orders that later execute, only in series listed with maker fees; canceling a resting order is free.
Most resting orders on Kalshi pay no trading fee. Kalshi's help center says some markets have maker fees, charged on orders that are not matched immediately and instead rest on the order book, and only when a trade is ultimately executed; there is no fee for canceling a resting order. The markets concerned are listed in the Maker Fees section of Kalshi's fee schedule.
Kalshi's API documentation labels these series quadratic_with_maker_fees and describes the maker side with a 0.25 maker multiplier, or 0.5 for the combo version, quadratic_with_combo_maker_fees. For combos priced by request for quote, Kalshi's July 12, 2026 fee filing says the quoter whose quote is accepted pays the equivalent of a maker fee.
Example: you rest a bid for 100 Yes at 50¢ in a series with maker fees. Nothing is charged while it waits or if you cancel it; if it fills, the maker fee is charged on the contracts that executed. Kalshi View's fee calculator shows the maker fee next to the taker fee for the same order.
