Fee multiplier: A number set per Kalshi series that scales its fee calculation, so the same order can pay a different fee in a different series.
Kalshi's API documentation says each series has a fee_type and a fee_multiplier, a floating point multiplier applied to the fee calculations. The fee type says which table of the fee schedule applies; the multiplier scales the result for that series.
Multipliers can change and can be overridden. Kalshi's API publishes scheduled series fee changes with the new fee type, the new multiplier and the time they take effect, as well as event-level overrides layered on top of the series' fee structure. Kalshi's help center notes that some markets have different fees around special events such as elections, awards shows or championships.
Example: with a multiplier of 0.5, an order's fee is about half what the same order would pay at a multiplier of 1. Kalshi View's fee calculator takes the multiplier as an input and lists the fee type of today's most traded markets. The fee on the order ticket is the final word.
