2026 F1 Season Finale: Abu Dhabi Date and Kalshi Rules

The 2026 F1 season finale is scheduled for Sunday, December 6, at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, with the race weekend running December 4-6. For traders, the distinction is simple: the final race date is not necessarily the championship-deciding date or a Kalshi contract’s expiration date. Check the sporting schedule and contract terms separately.

Source snapshot: October 3, 2026, 05:36-05:39 UTC. This is a static schedule and rules checklist, not a live pricing page or official F1 material.

Primary sources checked:

Verified for the dated snapshot above: Formula 1’s official Abu Dhabi event page and 2026 calendar; Kalshi’s KXF1-26 event record, KXF1 series record, and full ACHIEVEMENTS contract terms; and the CFTC’s Kalshi designation listing.

The calendar and event page come from the same official publisher, not two independent sources. They establish the scheduled weekend and session times. Kalshi’s records and contract terms address a different question: what its championship contracts measure and how resolution works.

2026 F1 season finale date and US start time

The official calendar lists Abu Dhabi as the final scheduled round. The event page identifies Yas Marina and this session sequence:

The race time comes from the event page’s structured Race session data, rather than an unlabeled display time. December 4 marks the start of the weekend, not the Grand Prix itself. These are scheduled starts and remain subject to change, so recheck the official event page before planning around them.

Abu Dhabi race winner versus F1 drivers champion

Three outcomes should stay separate when reading a market title:

Winning the finale does not automatically mean winning the drivers championship. The verified Kalshi event concerns the drivers title, not the other two outcomes. This guide does not establish that separate race-winner or constructors contracts are available.

What the October 3 Kalshi snapshot showed

The event was titled “F1 Drivers Champion,” with subtitle “2026,” series identifier KXF1, and event identifier KXF1-26. Its records listed 22 active contracts. That is a dated availability observation, not evidence that 22 drivers remained mathematically in contention, or that any contract had meaningful liquidity.

One verified example was KXF1-26-LH, titled “Will Lewis Hamilton win the F1 Drivers Championship?” Its primary rule stated: “If Lewis Hamilton wins the F1 Drivers Championship, then the market resolves to Yes.” This illustrates the contract’s target, not a forecast or recommendation.

For separately maintained quotes, use the F1 Drivers Champion market hub. Confirm current availability and executable prices on the exact current Kalshi market; this static article carries neither.

Why Kalshi championship dates differ from the finale

A title can be decided before the final scheduled race. The observed contracts had can_close_early set to true and stated: “This market will close and expire after a title holder is declared.” No championship standings or clinch scenarios are being verified here.

All 22 observed contracts shared these API fields:

These fields are not race dates, guaranteed deadlines, or promised payout times. The full ACHIEVEMENTS terms use result-relative language: last trading equals expiration, and generic latest-expiration text refers to 10 a.m. ET on the day after the official final result. Settlement is specified by the day after expiration unless the outcome is under review.

The terms also address postponements, cancellations, withdrawals, disqualification, multiple winners, and Outcome Review. Revisions after expiration are not considered under those terms. That does not support a blanket claim that the first reported result always controls.

The event’s settlement-source list names Fox Sports, ESPN, The Wall Street Journal, and AP. The full terms also include the governing league or association among Source Agencies. Formula1.com’s calendar role should not be confused with being the event’s sole settlement source.

The published API dates and generic PDF wording do not provide a single unambiguous clock. Compare the exact current market and full terms, and ask Kalshi about unresolved timing differences rather than inventing a hierarchy. The settlement terminology guide provides background, not event-specific timing proof.

A short checklist before trading

The CFTC listing identifies Kalshi as a designated exchange. This exchange-level status does not establish approval of a particular F1 contract or eligibility in every location. Verify current platform restrictions and local law; this guide is not legal advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the last F1 race of 2026?

The 2026 F1 season finale is scheduled for Sunday, December 6, at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi. The full weekend runs December 4-6, with practice on Friday and qualifying on Saturday. Formula 1’s official calendar and event page should be rechecked because schedules can change.

What time does the 2026 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix start in the US?

The scheduled race start is 8:00 a.m. US Eastern Standard Time and 5:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time on Sunday, December 6. That corresponds to 17:00 in Abu Dhabi and 13:00 UTC. These conversions reflect the official event page’s structured race-session data, not a guaranteed start.

Does Kalshi’s 2026 F1 championship market have to wait for Abu Dhabi?

Not necessarily. A drivers championship can be decided before the finale, and the observed contracts allowed early closure after a title holder is declared. Traders should verify the current contract’s declaration, expiration, and review provisions rather than assume either an earlier clinch or the final race triggers immediate payment.

Why does Kalshi show December 22 for the 2026 F1 championship?

December 22 appeared in the October 3 snapshot as the close_time and latest_expiration_time fields, not the race date. Expected expiration was December 8. Those fields must be read alongside early-close language and full result-relative terms. Any unresolved timing discrepancy should be taken to Kalshi, not treated as a payout promise.

Not financial advice. Prediction-market trading is speculative, and you can lose money. Do your own research.
